Adoption of the Patent Law and the Amendments

-- The Patent Law of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter the "Patent Law") was adopted on March 12, 1984, and came into force on April 1, 1985.

-- The Patent Law was amended twice ever since its enter into force. The first time amendment took effect on January 1, 1993 and the second time on July 1, 2001, with the Implementing Regulations amended accordingly and effected at the same time.

-- The CNIPA promulgated its Guidelines for Examination (for patent) in 1993, and thereafter amended it twice. The newly-amended Guidelines for Examination came into force on July 1, 2006.
